At AWELC our Committee of Management is comprised of volunteer parents whose children are enrolled at our centre. Our committee plays a crucial role in shaping a nurturing and enriching environment for all our children.

Volunteering on the AWELC Committee of Management is not just about fulfilling a role — it's about fostering a strong community, enhancing your child's early learning experience, and building lasting relationships with other families.

Committee Roles and Responsibilities

Role Responsibilities
President Leading the committee and representing AWELC at community and council events
Secretary Managing records, minutes, and official communications
Treasurer Overseeing financial management, budgeting, and reporting
Grants Coordinator Leading grant applications and fundraising initiatives to support our centre programs and activities
Council Liaison Acting as the primary contact with Moonee Valley City Council regarding partnership and support
Fundraising & Event Coordinator Organising fundraising events and other community events such as AGM, annual working bee, etc.
HR Coordinator Handling all internal and external communications. Recruiting and managing volunteers within the centre. We also welcome parents with professional or trade skills who can contribute uniquely to our community.

Your Impact

Service Management

Collaborating with staff to set operational procedures including session timings, enrolment policies, and resource allocation.

Staffing

Managing employment processes from hiring to retention and ensuring a supportive working environment.

Compliance & Licensing

Overseeing adherence to licensing requirements and regulations, coordinating with the Victorian DET, Moonee Valley City Council, and other regulatory bodies.

How We Operate

Committee meetings are conducted once a month via Zoom, making it accessible for all members to participate actively regardless of their schedules.
